Hello there! I am proud to be raising awareness and funds on behalf of The Eating Disorders Coalition.
Approximately 10 million American women and 1 millions American Men are struggling with Anorexia and Bulimia, and an additional 25 million individuals are batling Binge Eating Disorder. Anorexia Nervosa has the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric disorder, as high as 20%. Death can occur after severe bingeing in bulimia nervosa as well. However, only 1 in 10 people with eating disorders receive treatment because of high cost of treatment. The EDC has worked tirelessly over the past few years to effectively influence federal policy and promote positive change!
For those of you who are not familiar with the EDC, they are diligenlty working to:
- Raise awareness among policy makers and the public at large about the serious health risk posed by eating disorders
- Promote federal support for improved access to care
- Increase resources for research, education, prevention, and improved training
- Increase funding and support for scientific research on the causes, prevention, and treatment of eating disorder
- Promote initiatives that support the healthy development of children
- Mobilize concerned citizens to advocate on behalf of people with eating disorders, their families, and professionals working with these populations
But, they need YOUR help to continue their amazing work!! Every dollar helps and no amount is too little (or too much!).
